چکیده

This paper presents an algorithm for building decision trees in an uncertain environment. Our algorithm will use the theory of belief functions in order to represent the uncertainty about the parameters of the classification problem. Our method will be concerned with both the decision tree building task and the classification task.

belief function and the transferable belief model

Beliefs are the result of uncertainty. Sometimes uncertainty is because of a random process and sometimes the result of lack of information. In the past, the only solution in situations of uncertainty has been the probability theory. But the past few decades, various theories of other variables and systems are put forward for the systems with no adequate and accurate information. One of these a...

Pruning Method of Belief Decision Trees

The belief decision tree (BDT) approach is a decision tree in an uncertain environment where the uncertainty is represented through the Transferable Belief Model (TBM), one interpretation of the belief function theory. The uncertainty can appear either in the actual class of training objects or attribute values of objects to classify. In this paper, we develop a post-pruning method of belief de...

Handling uncertain labels in multiclass problems using belief decision trees

This paper investigates the induction of decision trees based on the theory of belief functions. This framework allows to handle training examples whose labeling is uncertain or imprecise. A former proposal to build decision trees for twoclass problems is extended to multiple classes. The method consists in combining trees obtained from various two-class coarsenings of the initial frame.

Pruning belief decision tree methods in averaging and conjunctive approaches

The belief decision tree (BDT) approach is a decision tree in an uncertain environment where the uncertainty is represented through the Transferable Belief Model (TBM), one interpretation of the belief function theory. The uncertainty can appear either in the actual class of training objects or attribute values of objects to classify. From the procedures of building BDT, we mention the averagin...

Application of E 2 M Decision Trees to Rubber Quality Prediction

In many applications, data are often imperfect, incomplete or more generally uncertain. This imperfection has to be integrated into the learning process as an information in itself. The E2M decision trees is a methodology that provides predictions from uncertain data modelled by belief functions. In this paper, the problem of rubber quality prediction is presented with a belief function modelli...
